Camp Hope is 170-acres of land in rural southeastern Missouri. It was created in memory and in honor of PFC Christopher Neal White, a Marine who was killed in action on June 20, 2006. Because of Christopher's love of the outdoors (hunting, shooting, fishing and wildlife), after his death, his family created Camp Hope to offer a respite and retreat for war-wounded active and retired military personnel. War-wounded American heroes are invited to Camp Hope for free. They get to spend time relaxing and enjoying nature and bonding with each other. It has become a healing ground. Founder, William "Mike" White explains, "Camp Hope honors the fallen by helping the wounded."
As a pro bono project, Amy was invited by Mr. White to interview some of the Soldiers and produce a video to highlight how Camp Hope helped them heal, both physically and emotionally. The video is available on the Camp Hope website. In July 2010 Amy was named to the Camp Hope Board of Directors as Public Information Officer. Visit: camphopeusa.org for more information about Camp Hope.
The American Cancer Society's Camp Adventure, is a weeklong overnight camping experience for kids with cancer and their siblings. Amy Di Leo has been a volunteer - as a photographer, since 2003. Several years ago many of her photographs were made into an inspirational montage for the website, cancer.org/campadventure, to promote the camp program. Each year her photos are used for an annual yearbook and for media and promotional purposes. The Camp Adventure kids call this camp "the happiest place on earth" and refer to it as "better than Disney World"... Amy finds the week she spends volunteering at Camp Adventure among the happiest and most fulfilling of times.
Labs 4 Rescue, labs4rescue.org, is where Amy and her family found her two lab mutts, K.C. (Kisses and Cuddles) and Janie Sunshine (a Hurricane Katrina survivor). Amy is on the L4R public relations committe and is a contributing writer for the organization's quarterly newsletter. L4R rescues dogs and places them in loving homes, mostly in the northeast.
Operation Proud Hearts is a national organization, which provides emergency financial assistance and morale to members of the US military, veterans, and the families they leave behind, nationwide. Becoming involved with Operation Proud Hearts only recently, Amy helps the not-for-profit organization with media planning, media training, establishing contacts, press materials and event planning. In January 2010, Amy was named to the Operation Proud Hearts Advisory Board.

Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society's signature event to fight every type of cancer. Walt Whitman HS in Huntington Station, LI, is one of tens of thousands of locations nationwide to host one of these heartwarming overnight events. Amy was asked by her friend, Kathy Zadrozny, the event chairperson, to be the Publicity Chairperson for the May 2009 event. Even with tough economic times, the close-knit community pulled together and proudly raised $90,000 to fight cancer. Four years prior, Amy was the publicity chair for WWHS's first-ever RFL event, also chaired by Zadrozny. The success was amazing as the community raised nearly $200,000 - the most ever for a first year event on the east coast! The American Cancer Society provides cancer information and support 24/7 at 800-ACS-2345 or cancer.org.
